Paperbabe Stamps Challenge #63 ~ Anything Goes

Good morning, we have a new challenge on the Paperbabe Stamps blog today, it's an anything goes.
I really enjoyed creating this, I was inspired by some of Audrey Kawasaki's work and thought it would be fun to replicate using my templates and stamps.
I started on my wood block by drawing the girl in pencil using the head & torso and the loose plait hairstyle. I've used the female face stamping mostly in grey ink.
I have used an ordinary pencil to add my shading to her face and hair and white pencil for highlights.
I painted a background shape in black acrylic and stamped the doodle stars in gold embossing.
I used black posca pen to go over the main outlines.

Thanks for stopping by enjoy a wonderfully creative weekend and a very special Christmas too!
see you soon

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge #60 ~ Anything Goes

Good morning, we have a new challenge on the Paperbabe Stamps blog today, it's an anything goes.

I created my mixed media piece for a special friend, I know it's arrived so I can share it with you all today...
There are so many layers on this 12 x 12 canvas, I began with a base of gesso and dropped alcohol inks as before but they were too mucky, so I've covered with lots of gelatos and paints.
I then went in with some stencilling with dimensional paste and acrylic paint though the polka dots, roses and herringbone stencils.
I've used a lot of tissue stamping for the sentiments Love, Happy Soul, Light from Within and the angel wings. I love how this method works, how the letters become fused with the background texture. The thought of heat embossing and getting only bits of it staying would probably ruin my neat ocd (obsessive creative disorder).
and of course my angel, created with the very versatile and lovely mix of templates... the Head & Torso, mainly as a mask, the fringe from the short & fringe, and the rest of the hairstyle using the Long Loose Wave. I kept the torso with the background layers and colours only, but decided to paint the face and hair with acrylics to make them pop.
Her angelic face was stamped from the female face stamps and coloured with a little neocolors II and posca pen.
Some extra details are a little metallic gilding flakes over some of the roses. I also added a few speckles using the dots in the spritz & speckles stamp set. I stamped and doodled hearts, added dots and a little glitter. The edges I finished with some black paint.

Thanks for stopping by enjoy a wonderfully creative weekend and maybe a bonfire too!

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge #59 ~ Scare Me

Good morning, we have a new challenge on the Paperbabe Stamps blog today, it's a fun scre theme.
I had lots of fun creating this mixed media witch,
Chatting with my daughter Maoleidigh we decided that a witch in a mirror would be much more fitting than in a coffin shape etc so I used an ornate frame and doodled along the edges to give a gold frame effect.
The background was created with neocolors, I didn't think the colours would be so vibrant.
I used the mini Head & torso with loose plait and female face to create my witch. The roses and spider web were from the standard and mini sugar skull sets combined, it was great to have two sizes.
For the witches hat I have created the brim to be dimensional,
I've finished off with a magic bottle, I've heat embossed the bottle and label onto vellum, the bottle itself was on some blue vellum I've had in my stash for many many years and the smoke flume I coloured the back of frosted vellum with distress oxide.

I've put together a slideshow of the steps, it's not easy to create videos at the moment as viewers coming to the house I feel I always have to put the equipment away... not fun, but a few pics should help.

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge #58 ~ Sketch Challenge

Good morning, we have a new challenge on the Paperbabe Stamps blog today, it's a fun little sketch.

I was feeling the autumn colour pallette and enjoyed creating this card, I treated myself to some distress oxides(about time) and blended an autumnal background.
the crunchy leaves represent the circle... I stamped the leaf image in a few colours onto paper and scrunched the paper, then inked with a little distress ink before cutting the images out.
and the string of conkers, which represented the ribbon on the sketch, I stamped onto card, I added a little shadow with coloured pencil before cutting the whole thing out and raised it on dimensional adhesive foam.
All using the Completely Conkers Stamp set.

we also have
Autumn Sale
ends 13th Oct

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge #57 ~ Picture Inspiration

Good morning, we have a new challenge on the Paperbabe Stamps blog today, it's a picture inspiration challenge...
I used the colours to inspire my card,
a quick sketch using the Long Loose wave and Head & Torso templates, I love how well these lend to card sizes too.
stamped the female face mini, I've coloured just scribbling a little neocolor II and wash it out with a water brush.
I used the solid pupils in the female face set to give her rosy cheeks and add some detail to the background and the subtle flower is from the Oriental zen stamp set.
