Birthday Celebrations Easel Card!

Thought I would take part in the Dare over at Daring Cardmakers this week the challenge is to make a shaped easel card... This also fits very nicely for the birthday celebrations challenge over at Simon says too :)

It's not exactly a different shape I just curved the top corners to follow the label die cut. So, I needed a card for someone who totally loves horses, then I remembered these Gorjuss images and edited the unicorn slightly to make it more horsey, tee hee! I have printed it twice and fussy cut one to layer over the other with dimensional foam. The rosette I made from adhering the ribbon in pleats around the circle and embellishing with die cut numbers. The charm I have attached with a little bead bling made by yours truly!

Supplies: Patterned Paper: K&Co: Amy butler;
Images: Gorjuss Art: pack 24; PTI: sentiment;
Ink: Archival: black; distress ink: antique linen;
Dies: Sizzix: tags; alphabet; Spellbinder's nestabilties: labels 8; circles scallop; WRMK; corner rounder;
Other: chip board; BG: brad; ribbon; Quixotic: horse charm; beads etc; 3D foam;

Thanks for stopping by today and I'm so pleased you enjoyed my little tutorial yesterday. HuGs Kim :)

Wild Card Wednesday ~ May Flower Tutorial

Good Morning, Well, this is a bit of a looonnng post but I wanted to include my little flower tutorial...

Today over at Club Anya & Friends is a Wild Card Wednesday Challenge and this week the theme is May Flower's... I have used the fabulous sketch 62 from card patterns. I don't usually go for a circular card but enjoyed the challenge. I have used a circular lace punch for the card base and even got out my teenie tiny sewing machine to add a little detail. Fleur Anya has been coloured with copics and you can scroll down for a little tutorial on the flowers :)

Supplies: Patterned Paper: Cosmo Cricket; material girl;
Stamps: The Greeting Farm: Fleur Anya; Studio G: alphabet(thank you Tara);
Ink: Memento & archival: black; Copic: markers*; distress ink: antique linen; inkessential: white;
Dies: Sizzix: flower layers #5; Tim Holtz tattered florals; Cuttlebug: scalloped flower; PTI: bloom II;
WRMK; circle cutter; Fiskars & dovecraft: border punches;
Other: sewing machine (I Know!!!) tracer; 3D foam;

*Skin: E000, 11, 13 & R20, eyes: G00, Hair: E51, 50 Outfit: Y32, 35, R20, 22, 24 for flowers and I didn't use my colourless Blender at all which must be a first!!!

Dimensional Flower Tutorial

I had so many requests for a tutorial on the flowers on my Fleur Anya card I thought I would share how I made them here today...

Cut patterned paper to cover the size of the flowers you are cutting. You might consider using double sided patterned paper or as I have done make a sandwich of papers using double sided adhesive sheet between.
I have cut two from Tim Holtz tattered florals and one(double sided pattern) from flower layers #5
Simply draw a pencil line following the scallops of the flower so they spiral to the centre.
Cut along this line... you really don't have to be accurate, just scallop as you go... the line is only a guide.
If your pencil line was a little heavy handed like mine, you can just rub it off...
So with tweezers, hold the outer edge and start to twist into the centre.
You need to wind it until you have reached the centre and the spiral is tight.
Now let go and allow the flower to rest and unravel ever so slightly.
Using your preferred glue (I used glossy accents) apply some onto the base,
Squeeze or hold the flower tight until the glue has adhered, then leave aside to dry (doesn't take long).
Now it's time to scrunch up the other flower layers, I use my knuckle to shape into the palm of my hand but you can use anything... really... just scrunch and screw it up.
Then adhere your layers with thin adhesive foam or your preferred glue.
You CAN use ANY flower shape you have, you could even use an outline flower stamp.
Then simply adhere dimensional flowers to your finished card...
Hope it inspires and you have great fun making some May flowers :)

On another note:...for those who asked, here are the copic colours I used for my Rockin Rebel card...  :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Craft Stamper.....

I am soo soo soo excited because this Friday 7th May is Craft Stamper's June 2010 issue, it's a special bumper celebratory issue too, as they are 10 years old this month and I started contributing to their fabulous magazine a year ago this month too... WOO HOO!!!

-There are eight extra pages of projects to enjoy
-There is a special Birthday Bonanza competition with £1200 worth of prizes up for grabs
-There is a retrospective feature looking back on ten years of the magazine
-The website is getting a new look and a new interactive gallery to which readers can upload their work.

Here's the card I made to celebrate, have a look at the other designer's fabulous birthday cards too:

This is my first collection of Webster's pages and boy are they yummy... I have stamped Tim's flourish with gold acrylic paint, love the effect. The frame is cut from chipboard covered with patterned paper and the edges inked with gold ink! It's a papertrey ink sentiment, one of my favourite's. The bird's have been fussy cut directly from the patterned paper and I have given them a generous spray of glimmer mist. To finish I have embellished with satin ribbon and Tim's pin and type charms.

Thank you so much for stopping by today, hope you enjoy a wonderful May Bank Holiday we are off to enjoy Dillon's school fair, hope the sun shine's...
