Quixotic, Card patterns and some Moxie Fab!

Hello...  hope you're having a fun week so far!
I wanted to stop by with a card I made using another of the fabulous images from the Victoria Case for SCACD new release!

I've used Victoria Case - Beach Bonita, She has been coloured with copics and the pearls in her hair were embellished using Viva Decor: Pearl Pen - Ice White.

There is a wonderful Bonus Flourish stamp only available in the set... which I have stamped on the edges of the patterned paper strip. I've used Basic Grey - Curio - 6x6 Paper Pad throughout and embellished the scallop border with a few Flat Backed Pearls - 4mm - Cappucino.

My card was inspired by the fabulous sketch over at card patterns...

This is my first time entering... I think the colours were perfect from the Moxie Fab World
I found the basic grey curio papers a wonderful match and Bonita's hair was a trigger from the chair colour LOL!

That's it from me today, have a lovely creative day!!!

 Well this image is adorable and very pixie like, which inspired me to try and create a vintage type postcard. I've coloured the main image with copics, drew some grass for her to stand in and then blended all over with distress inks to soften and age it! Although I have followed Laura's fabulous sketch 57 over at 2Sketches4You I may have used a little more creative license then intended, LOL! This fabby echo park paper means I can also enter into the dotty challenge over at Simon Says! The pearl swirl was made using Bazzill Jewel template and flat backed pearls.
Supplies: Patterned Paper: Echo Park: Life is Good Collection Kit;
Stamps: CC Designs: Victoria Case for SCACD: Out On The Town (available in the US from SCACD);
Ink: Memento: black; Ranger ~ distress inks; copics*;

A recent new addition to Quixotic Paperie has been the Viva Decor product line. We have all fallen in love, and so, we're having a little blog hop to celebrate!

Joining the Quixotic Paperie Design Team on this hop we have the fantastic Susana's Custom Art & Card Design Design Team! Susana is a good friend of Elaine's and SCACD has become like an international sister store to Quixotic Paperie! We're collaborating on some crafty adventures, and this is hopefully the first of many!

We hope you will join us on this hop and be inspired in ways to use the Viva Decor product range! You will also have the chance to win some fabulous candy - both Elaine and Susana will be giving away a pack of the most popular Viva Decor Pens (Ice White Pearl Pen, Holographic Glitter Liner and the Clear Gloss Gel Pen).

All you will have to do to win is answer a question at each store blog - 1 entry at each STORE blog per person please! Both blog candy draws will close on 31st July 2010.

In the UK/Europe you can find Viva Decor products at Quixotic Paperie. If you're in the US/Canada then Susana carries the Viva Decor range at Susana's Custom Art & Card Design.

**** ON TO THE HOP! ****

You should have hopped over here from the very talented Jacquie Heffner. If not, you might want to pop over to the Quixotic Paperie Store Blog and start from the beginning!

I've used as much viva decor product on my card as I possibly could without it being too heavy to stand up LOL! Of course the tail on the stunning mermaid has a glittering of Viva Decor Glitter Liner in Holo-Iridescent and I couldn't help but utilise my Bazzil template and add a swirl of glitter bubbles directly onto the acetate, so fabulously sparkly. I have stamped the bubbles and coloured with the glitter liner and embellished all the die cut decorative edges with the viva decor glitter liner too.

If that's not enough the front wave has had a smudging of viva decor pearl liner, I highlighted the tops to give a bit more shimmer. I want to say I'm actually very impressed with this product, I have used other glitter glues and liquid pearl paint and this one works exceptionally well. I have really put it to the test and it doesn't even bleed my printed digi images as with other brands I have used in the past!

Have you ever seen how fantastically copics colour onto grungepaper?... Wowee, all the cute star fish have been stamped and coloured with copics. I have them grazing on some grungeboard rocks and a few scattered viva pearls, tee hee!

Copic Colouring Tutorial ~ Background Grass

Good morning, well... here it is my step by step tutorial on how I colour my grass... I have also placed it on our Color Me Copic blog too... Hope it inspires....

First I stamp my image then cut out the desired shape, it's so much easier for me to re stamp then recolour an image if I didn't cut it properly, also it's easy to realign the die on the image to ink the border edge.

I have coloured the main figure with copics and given a soft shadow around the edge of her...*Skin: E000, E00, 11, 13 & R20, Hair: E50, 51, 31, Outfit: R22, 24, B91, 95, E41, B60 and a little colourless blender!!!

Here are the varying greens I've chosen but by no means do you have to use these... any greens will work, I have a light, medium, darker and the darkest for shadows. The yellow will be the flowers but again any colour which suits your project will work!
I start by colouring my grass area, you can have this any size, maybe a mound, or small grassy verge... I have used YG93 and just coloured... you really don't need to be neat with this bit as it's going to be covered with LOTS of grass!!!

Next colour... I've used YG17, now just flick... starting at the bottom of your blade of grass flick the pen up, it will naturally tapper for you and try not to go straight up either a few stray directions make a more realistic grassy look!

I have covered the whole base colour with YG17 blades of grass, notice I have flicked a few strand directly over her shoes and trouser hem! This gives a more earthed impression of her standing in the grass instead of on top! You won't want any on the tops of her trousers though (unless the grass is super long and tall).

Right my next colour, YG67 is a darker tone of green and this will give depth to the finished look... simply follow the previous grass flicking instruction with this colour, you will not need to cover as much area so you won't cover over the lighter blades. To really ground her I have taken my darkest tone BG96 and dotted around the base of her shoes and continued out a little to create a shadow!

The flowers are so fun... using Y08 dot directly onto the grass, hold the tip there for a little bit, the green will bleed out and the yellow will remain... continue this all over, it is very random colouring!

Don't forget the top of the flowers too, you won't need to hold the tip there this time as there is no colour to move. In fact a very gentle dab will produce a lovely tiny dot.

Ooh finished, just check now if I think there's enough shadow and contrast maybe add a little more to the shadow under her feet. You might have noticed I didn't need to use one of the colours I originally chose. This is also where I will replace the nestability die and blend a little distress ink to the edges.

Here is the image placed on the card front!!!

Supplies: Patterned Paper: Echo Park - Sweet Summertime Collection Kit;
Stamps: SCACD:Go Greenlittle suzanne(from the last release);
Ink: Memento: black; Copic: markers*; Distress inks: antique linen;
Dies: Spellbinders nestabilties: circles; MS: butterfly punch;
Other: Flat Backed Pearls - 3mm - Golden Yellow; Flat Backed Pearls - 8mm - white; brad; scallop scissors; stitch tracer; 3D foam;

Thank you so  much for visiting today, stop back tomorrow for a Basic Grey Challenge and Club Anya & Friends Sketch Saturday.
