Check out Charlies blog for her first Blog Birthday and look at the images she's giving away! Just adorable!!

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Arty Girlz have decided to have an On-going 'Recycling' Challenge. As you hopefully know by now 'Recycling' is an ongoing challenge on Arty Girlz so please think before you throw anything away and if you can 'recycle' please do.....

So I did... this card was made using an old brown envelope (you know the one the bills come in) As it happens my bear stamp arrived in post and I just HAD to stamp it and I used the only undoodled bit of paper in front of me - envelope. Then to colour in... I had my Sakura glitter pens beside me and got carried away with them and my water brush! The whole image sparkles I tried to show it in photo hope you can see!
Then for the die cut tag I used cereal box card covered with BG paper and stamped. The flower I used the plastic packaging the die came in and cut the flowers, I decided to actually try my alcohol inks (a first for me,) thoroughly enjoyed the effect, may have to get more!

I used the wonderful Sketch #10 over on Nicole's blog, but realise it's slightly different. Really enjoyed this project, as you can read I rambled on, and now I have to rush as baby wants me!

Cute Card and a little Tutorial

I thought I would make a card with the sketch on Cute Card Thursday challenge 11 and show a little tutorial of my scalloped edges using my nestabilities.
I was asked how I got the scalloped edges on this card with my nestabilities....
Here goes, it's not very professional but I hope you get the idea and if you have any questions be sure to ask!

I'm using vellum, first I have trimmed to width I need, now I'm scoring to where the scallop will be see next pic.

Next I lay this to the part of the scallop that cuts, I've used a tiny bit of masking tape to secure! Make sure it is shy of the end scallop! click pic to enlarge.

Next is the clever bit... Get yourself a small cutting pad I'm using sidekick cutting pads these are great for so many things and it means you can cut a little quicker and cover small areas!

You NEED to lay the cutting pad so that it stops before and doesn't cover the corner scallop under your paper, otherwise you won't get a straight edge!

See how the cut stops.

Next you need to move your half cut paper... placing the cut scallops in each scallop past the die and following the previous directions. If you are doing a very long piece then I would suggest turning your cutting Matt and only doing the two inches it allows!

Finished, I love the size of these scallops I can't find scissors that cut that large. Thanks for keeping up with me I hope it was clear enough for you!

Now attach scallop paper to card. Recently I have actually been buying stamps (a lot of stamps)... It's only in the last few months that I've really been getting into them! So you're sure to see a lot more stamped cards now! I like the image on this card but still not sure on the foam lettering. I used vellum to keep the pretty patterned paper!

Materials:
Paper: DCWV, PM cream vellum, pink from stash.
Die's:
Nestabilities squares and ovals, sizzix alphabet.
Stamps: Baby girl Bear,(while there I ordered super cute stamp sets from Pink Cat studio, the Billy stamps and Dress up Lily)
Ink: Black Staz On, whispers brush pens.
Other: grosgrain ribbon, stardust pen, Funky foam, 3D foam.

Thanks for stopping by this was a bit of long post I hope you enjoyed! HuGs Kim

3D Butterfly Birthday

This week the challenge on Arty Girlz challenge #33 is '3D' ~ Thank you to Jane who suggested that great theme. Keep the suggestions coming in everyone as Arty Girlz intends to be around for a long time ;)

I needed a birthday card that had either green or pink on. Spoilt myself to some Laura Ashley goodies and find both colours. The Butterfly has been stamped three times and hand cut to layer and make 3d, I used thinner foam pads which is just as effective! I went over the finished butterfly with glitter pen. I put a little bit of flock on the leaves but it doesn't show up very well (they feel nice though)

I created the scallop card with my nestabilities large square, and made another felt corner, it comes out so pretty. Sorry pictures aren't very good!

Materials:
Paper: Laura Ashley contemporary, black & white card stock
Die's: Cuttlebug corner, nestabilities Ovals, squares
Stamps: PTI Butterfly Kisses, Laura Ashley clear stamp.
Ink: Colourbox fluid chalk ink pink pastel & olive pastel, versafine onyx black
Other: Pink felt & stitched ribbon from stash, double sided adhesive sheet, glue pen, foam pads.

First Communion

This Communion card is for a relative but I have been making a few lately for my church. I like to make the card for the recipient and went for bright and fun colours!

I used Lauren's Birthday sketch (Happy 30th Lauren!) and the colours brown, pink & green from the colour challenge from my blogging sisters.
Just loved how the different elements worked n this card. The corner was created with the doubled sided sticky sheet (so love this stuff) and adhered to felt. I then used it on a cuttlebug die. The flowers are die cut in grey board and felt.

Special Mum

Arty Girlz Challenge #32.....

The theme for this challenge is 'Open Theme' so you can create whatever you like for Arty Girlz this week.

I was really pleased with how this card turned out. My mum loves birthday cake and this background paper was a free sample from magazine. So I continued the colours and kept with cake theme. The faux stitching I created with a tracer tool and went over the holes with a pen and doodled a little on the cake. Then layered elements on 3d foam.

Materials:
Paper: Free from crafts beautiful, K&Co playful, white linen.
Die's: Sizzix hinky dory, cuttlebug birthday cake, nestabilities scallop circle
Ink: cocoa colourbox chalk, American glitter markers.

Flower Garden

Challenge 8 on Cute Card Thursday is....

In the garden

This week, a nice easy theme, anything to do with gardens. Could be people gardening, having fun in the garden, a garden scene or perhaps some little animals you might find in the garden.
Make it cute and have loads of fun!

I realise haven't done a post for a little while, just been busy so I thought I would upload a card I made a while ago that fits in with the challenge.

Lots of stamping for a change, I stamped the flowers on the base card, die cut the spotty grass and trees. Stamped the bird onto DP and raised then finished off with glitter markers.

Die's: Sizzix abstract, cuttlekids trees, circle
Stamps: Imaginisce Clear Stamps, bird, flowers, sizzix flower.
Ink: Black staz on, American glitter markers.
Thanks for stopping by, I will soon have more to upload, just catching up on the crafting time! HuGs Kim
