Anniversary

XOXO Lovefest - ANNIVERSARY

It's time for our third February Challenge! As you probably know, we are posting a challenge each Friday during the month of February. Now, it's all about Anniversary cards.

This is for a friends 2nd wedding anniversary, it's a bit late but thanks to Caarvarks for the challenge it jogged my memory!
Die cutting again.... with a little of my doodling round the hearts, adding gems. Then I stamped border stamp in black and used glitter pen for the centre of flowers. I tried to stick with colours to suit both of them, hope they like it!

Thanks for stopping by, and just a quick note to answer a few baby questions, I am due 5 weeks on friday. Still getting morning sickness, and tiredness. Am awake at silly times (look at time of this post), she's very active in my belly. Thank you all for congrats, I mentioned it in previous posts... it's just sometimes I forget that I'm pregnant & I get told off for doing too much and not resting!

Love and Friendship

DCM Dare - Love and Friendship.....

Keryn and Rachel are daring you to make a card in the theme of love and friendship for one of the special people in your life. It could be a valentines card, a thankyou for a close friend or a way to propose to the man in your life on the 29th February.

There is no expectation that everyone can or will use Stampin' Up!(R) product in their dare cards but if you can Keryn and Rachel would love to see what you come up with.

I used my stampin' up lovely as a tree set, which I love it can suit so many occassions. I stamped my trees in versamark and used blending chalks for the colouring!

I then cut with my nestabilities & inked edges. I wanted to try a different fold and marked the card to fit the cut images, then used my cutting mat only covering the die by half. I concertina folded so that it still fits into a C5 envelope.

The sentiment is from see D's set. The front section I used cuttlebug embossing folder and lightly inked.

Thanks for stopping by, HuGs!

Happy Valentine's Everyone

Flocked Love Letters

This is the card I made for my other half, and it also fits in with the DCM extra dare - We have Valentines day coming up on the 14th- as you well know, and obviously we have to do a romantic type dare to celebrate! So, this weeks little extra is to give us a card with a romantic theme AND to use both red and black ribbon!

I was so pleased with how the letters came out... I've included a picture of my flocking half way through. I die cut each letter in double sided sticky sheet using a heart shape for the 'V'. I then placed them on the acetate. I peeled off the front protective sheet then put this through swirl die cut. I placed all the pieces back into place like a jigsaw, so that I can cover selective areas in flock. I Flocked first with fun flock, then removed the rest of sheet and covered the swirls in glitter.
I used eyelets to fix the acetate layer in place over DCWV patterned paper, then threaded red and black ribbon through. 'Hugs and kisses' were rub ons under acetate.

It's a shame the flocking didn't come out in the photo very well, it has a lovely texture, very velvety. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Valentine's! HuGs x

Asian Fan

Thought I would have a go at the challenge set on Wednesday Stamper...

This week we challenge you with ASIA! Being a big continent, you can pick any country of your choice, any style you like, or maybe just add an Asian element to your creation.
Yet again I used the sketch over at Ismaki's No.5 and also used 2 - option colours : (brown / rose) (sorry for combining, I will try not to in future).

I stamped floral apple blossom stamp on the background layer with brilliance dew drop ink. The next layer I used DCWV new stack printed paper (matt and layered). The fan I stamped once onto backing paper and second on the floral paper. I cut out the one on floral paper to make it 3d with foam pads.

The sentiment (chinese proverb) is inked on edges and raised on 3d foam on thick brown grosgrain ribbon. For the butterfly I cut out each layer and used gold wax to rid the whiteness & attached as shown.

Stripey Thanks

Papertake Weekly challenge -

This weeks challenge is 'Simply Stripes' - quite self explanitory really lol! This weeks challenge is to use stripes on your project!

I have used the sketch from Ismaki No 6, but not sure I was meant to combine (just read that on her blog), sorry!

I haven't used a lot of stripes, mostly at the bottom and a little for the sentiment. I stamped the stalk from fancy pants pollen dust with green ink, Instead of stamping a flower head I went for die cut, which I adhered to vellum. I have added clear glaze pen on the leaves and pollen on flower (not sure you can see in pic).

I embossed paper for the stripe across the card, I used nestabilities to matt and layer the stamped image. The large scallop is vellum to co-ordinate with the petals.

Sweet Heart

This covers two challenges

Caarvarks - XOXO LOVEFEST BABY LOVE

Are you ready for our next February Love Challenge? It's all about BABY LOVE...link us to your baby cards by Thursday at Midnight, and we'll add 'em to the Baby Love Gallery. and

Di Hickmans Sketch
Card Sketch February #1 - Wednesday, February 6, 2008

I've used quite strong colours for baby card, just thought the papers needed a contrast! The papers are cut and adhered like in the sketch, I've used HOTP stitches rubber stamps to do the zigzags, and I pricked around the heart and used pigment pen to fill in stitches. Stamped little fancy pants flower on heart and adhered on gem.

Dimensional Lilac

I have covered two challenges with this card...

The DCM - Paper pesto Template

This week dare is an extra special one! Paper Pesto are entirely sponsoring this weeks dare AND providing a spot prize for one of our lucky darer's too!
with the challenge over at Suzanne's blog...

As you may or may not be aware I love the colour lilac.... your challenge is to make a card with this colour on it.I don't mind what type of card or what layout as long it has lilac somewhere!!

Really went to town with the lilac. As I had lilac die, thought I would try it in shrink plastic... which I sanded, coloured with ink pads of varying shades and shrunk the individual pieces. To put together I covered the base with glossy accents and laid the little flowers into it, while the glaze was still wet I poured over some glitter. I just left it to dry and was very pleased with the result, it feels strong enough to be jewellery.

The window I used rub ons, sticky sheet I covered in glitter which difficult to see in the photo and adhered to acetate. The butterfly is a dimensional sticker from my stash.

Arty Girlz Frame

I've just realised I have a card finished, not yet posted that will be great for the Arty girlz challenge...

This week's challenge is 'Frames' so you could use cardstock to make a frame, do a stitched frame, a buttoned frame, alter a frame, doodle a frame.... there's so much you can do for this challenge

.

This is a slightly unusual card and it gives me pleasure to be able to create a card specific for that person and occassion. Lets hope they like it...

The frame I created with my nestabilities, the cross was embossed with brass stencil in metal mesh. I used the frame to cover the sharp edges, all raised on 3d foam.

The praying hands were die cut and layered. I edged the sleeves, ordination sentiment and the patterned paper with gold pen. The '40th' I used double sided sticky sheet and use gold leaf to give a lovely effect, which worked really well.

I kept to quite a simple design, there is no specific colour for this occassion, so hope this works!

Thanks for stopping by! seem to have filled today with lots of posts. Must be on a roll, very thrilling! HuGs Kim x

DCM - Doodles

This week, I would love your little extra card to be a little doodled border on your card, be it dots, stripes or little faux stitches.'

I can't beleive I'm actually on time, not early granted but I discovered that I really enjoyed this Doodling. Could quite easily sit and doodle endlessly all day, very relaxing and Fun....

My doodles started by going around the edge of the circles like in the tutorial and then I decided the card needed a doodle frame, then the doodle frame needed to continue to the inside edge. Then the sentiment needed some faux doodle stitching, then to finish off I doodled a twirly squiggle to create a border for the patterned paper and I inked all the edges.

Thanks for Stopping by! HuGs Kim x

Blooming Beginning!

This weeks challenge over at Papertake is...

'Blooming Gorgeous!'

it's to use floral embellishments on your projects! These could be Prima's, silk, wire stemmed, die cut, handcut etc! etc! So please join us again this week and help make all our crafty blogs 'Blooming Gorgeous'!!

Ok, so this isn't actually finished yet, I started it last night and I'm so pleased with how it's developing. There are lots of elements on it. It's like a little peice of art that I intend to give to my mum. So I'm enjoying taking my time...
I've die cut and punched each flower layer and raised on 3d foam and glittered and added gems. The butterfly is also die cut from shrink plastic which I stamped, inked, chalked and shrunk. Affixed each part with glossy accents.
I still have more to finish but just wanted to show it so far!
Thanks for stopping by! HuGs!

Love Birds

Di Hickmans Wednesday Sketch

I went for unusual colours this time. The birds I cut with paisley dies and assembled drawing on their eyes.
The background I created by cutting heart template from thin copy paper (you can see in the pic how pretty the paper is now). I then stamped floral Anna Griffin stamp through. When dry I chalked the edges with blending chalks to highlight the shape. It looks a bit fussy and the technique developed while making the card! So I will try again better!

Thanks for stopping by! Kim HuGs x
