Christmas News

Christmas News, Christmas blues,
Christmas tissues for Christmas flu's....
I hope and wish everyone had a wonderful and special Christmas. Unbelievably I fell ill with flu the week before Christmas, so six months pregnant, coughing, sneezing, temperature and vomiting... (doctor wasn't impressed) And to top it all, my little three year old caught it too! and so did my mum.
I was meant to stay in bed the whole time but I am so bad at being ill, and Dillon needed looking after. For a few days my boyfriend did his best at nursing us but with work commitments wasn't very able.
It is the most fustrating thing... I was meant to do christmas with a great menu planned and the ingredients bought and all I managed was a bowl of soup and a little bit of chicken.
Despite all the above we had a good Christmas day, in fact I feel very spoilt with the beautiful gifts I have received and now with a bit of colour back and the first day of even putting the computer on, I should have some energy to organise thank you cards to make and show.
So I hope you are well and We wish you a happy New Year!

Papertake weekly Challenge

White Christmas....

And this weeks challenge, White Christmas, is to make a white Christmas card! You can use an accent colour or two if you like, but lots of white this time please!! Have fun!!

My card isn't very white but it reminds me of a snowy Christmas. I inked the background with pigment pens on acetate and sprayed with water for a speckled effect. Added lots of glitter which is hard to see in pic with weather being so dark....

This is also a papertake challenge for last week....

This weeks challenge, 'We three... Kings?' is to use 3 images on your card! (Christmas if poss please!!) They can be three the same or three different!!

Three trees the same in a foresty setting! Thanks for stopping by!

I like this sketch ad used the same AMM couture- Swanky designs papers as day one.

I die cut the decorative accent in grey board and trimmed. I then heat embossed a few times (layers) to give a glossy finish. The flower is cut with vellum and texture card. Both embellished with gems.

What's CardMaps you ask? If you aren't familiar with Becky Fleck and her PageMaps site, you soon will be! Her layout, card, and tag sketches are genius. Becky has revealed her brand new December card sketches (CardMaps) and allowed us to feature our favorite seven sketches this week! Of course you'll find even more on her site. If you're looking for some card inspiration, PageMaps is the place to go.

Here's our sketch for today! We hope it's as inspiring to you as it was to our Design Team. Please share what you do with this sketch. Post a link to your card so we can come visit. There is no gallery this week...we'd like to encourage people to jet around to the different blogs and galleries to take a look at each other's creations.

I stamped the paper and heat embossed with red, I made an aperture to represent the rectangle. I stamped sentiment on acetate and heat embossed. The party dress is die cut and embellished with glitter glue & raised on 3d foam. The Paper is AMM couture - Swanky designs.

Thanks for looking and all your lovely comments!

I've been Tagged

The wonderful Ellia has tagged me...... You really need to see her site the girl has some really awesome work. Designs and ideas that take a lot more patience and skill than I ever have when I'm crafting. And, she has 2 children one even a baby! I love the way she includes her family life on her blog! Very Inspiring!

How in the world does she do it? I bet she doesn't ever sleep. Her attention to detail is remarkable and if you are curious as to how she manages this at times, check out this post here...

so here are seven random facts about me...

1. I have an Electric Violin and a Banjo which I try playing (unsuccessfully) but I love the way they feel... thank God the violin has ear phones I'm sure the neighbours would cringe!

2. I have only been making cards since February 2006 that's when I bought my first card kit! I made one card then for my Nan's 80th then the addiction spiralled.... although I have always been crafty and loved anything paper, it's been my life really.... which brings me to ...

3. I love drawing and haven't posted any of my pictures on my blog so think I will share my Favourite!

This is my son Dillon when he was ten months old, in Devon in the cold hills. I drew it from a photo which I like to do so I can get loads of detail.

I love his eyes and if you look really closely you can just make out me taking his pic. Also the cute little dribble just on his lips. I was really pleased with how the texture on the coat turned out.

4. I love marmalade sandwiches.

5. My boyfriend Steve and I reunited after ten years... on friends reunited. We were very close friends then and now we are expecting a baby in March!

6. I don't tend to talk about myself at all (friends say I must be part of MI5) so this is getting tricky... one more fact....

7. I used to really enjoy caving/potholing... totally scary and exciting! some of the passages are really tight and some of them are like big rooms and the water down there is FREEZING but so nice to drink it's like mineral water yummy!

Hang up your Stockings

DCM - This week's Little Extra theme is:

"Hang Up Your Stockings"

Obviously we mean the stockings we put out in the hope that Father Christmas will pay us a visit and fill them with little treats (not your fishnets and suspenders!).Maybe you're in a part of the world that has a different custom, for instance in some countries the children put their shoes on the windowsill rather than hang up stockings. Whatever you do, we'd love to hear about your traditions as well as seeing your cards, so please tell us a little about how you celebrate Christmas in your country and in your home.

I nearly forgot to post this card for the challenge, Not sure I liked it to much, used different colours and couldn't decide where to place the stocking. Also not sure if you'd find a champagne bottle in your stocking just wishful thinking on my part!

I cut the base card at an unusual angle, surprised it stands up.. but it does even with all that weight on it! I love this paper and kept with their colours just added a little red. The photos aren't very clear with this dull weather.

Thanks for stopping by enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Ten Christmas Cards.... All the same but different

I was very busy last night and challenged myself to make a batch of Christmas cards and managed to complete ten. I'm usually quite a slow crafter so this is great achievement. But the cards I 've been making lately have left my home before I've even taken a photo to show you all, although it seems that I haven't blogged very much.

I used See D's Christmas stamps, borders and corners and Anna Griffin sentiment. My nestabilities (am loving these soo much) pigment pens and glitter pen. The papers are Basic grey Urban couture, DCWV textured.

Thanks for stopping by and all your wonderful comments!

This week its Rhi here to Dare you... and the theme is to do with our feathered friends!(Are you remembering to feed them now it's chilly out)Robins, love birds, cartoon birds, stamped birds, paper pieced birds, dingbat birds. Its up to you. I dare you to make a card with a bird or birds on, it doesn't have to be a real species, the more weird and wonderful the better!

This was a fun challenge...

I created the Robin with my nestabilities dies, I used the Ovals for the body and breast, the paisley for the wings and hat.

The eyes, beak and feet where made from circle punch.

I die cut holly and berries and embellished with glitter pen. The base card was embossed with square and I stamped fancy pants image for the branch. The papers used is from Basic Greys Urban Couture.

Thanks for stopping by I have more to upload later!

Rub me tender, rub me sweet...

Caardvarks - Rub Ons...

Well, you can probably guess what's up at Caardvarks! Rubons, baby. Show us some fun work with ---Rubons---! Please have your entries linked in the comments section of this post by November 30th.

Well hopefully I'm not too late for this entry....

I started with Sassafras lass ('in stitches') papers, I used frolic for the base card and some of the other colours for the backing of sentiment and the flower.

I have used RubOn alphabet for the sentiment, I then cut with my nestabilities and put it through flower embossing folder. I backed it with scallop nestabilities in Brownie.

I die cut decorative accent in glitter card and adhered to front. I put the sentiment on 3d foam.
The flower is die cut from some of the stitches paper and coordinating vellum, I like the soft look this gives. The large Brad in the centre I have Rubbed On another sentiment. From HOTP words, hearts & flowers.
Thanks for stopping by!
